Nunu's journey is a tale of inspiration that began at the tender age of 13 when she left her hometown to seek income-generating opportunities in Addis. Despite dropping out of school, she started with domestic work and soon moved on to working as a dishwasher and waitress. Despite her young age, Nunu shouldered the responsibility of providing for her family. Eventually, Nunu started her own coffee selling business to generate her own income.
Many women consider getting married and having children as important milestones in their lives. Nunu was no exception. She continued to run her coffee business after She got married and had her first child, but things changed after the arrival of her second child. Nunu made the tough decision to become a stay-at-home mother, but soon found that making ends meet was a challenge. With only her husband as the breadwinner in the family, it was impossible to fulfill their basic needs. To support her family, Nunu took on domestic jobs, often carrying her baby girl on her back. Nevertheless, the economic pressure continued to be intense for the family.
Desperate for any kind of support, Nunu was referred to Bethany through a government office as a vulnerable member of the community. With Bethany's help, Nunu received basic preventive measures and nutritional support to improve her family's lifestyle. But Bethany didn't stop there - but continued to empower Nunu through training in business skills, parenting, and basic health training.
The journey was not an easy one, Nunu's story is a reminder of the struggles that many mothers face in trying to provide for their families. But through her determination and with the help of Bethany, she received the support and training needed to transform her mindset and skills. Today, Nunu has realized her dream of opening a large-scale vegetable business, generating more income for her family, and providing for their basic needs. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and community support.
